Cinema File: It'd be a crime to miss these at Christmas
It was almost a Norman Rockwell scene in my house this past Sunday night. My wife stood on a chair putting ornaments on our tree as I fastened multicolored lights around our windows. We had a nice, warm fire going. Our two dogs cuddled up close to one another on their pillow. And blaring from our television set were the sounds of gunshots, police sirens and enough loudly spoken profanities to make a sailor blush. Why on Earth would anyone ruin such an otherwise idyllic holiday scene this way? Because our favorite Christmas movies just happen to be R-rated comedies about criminals.

Released in 2003, Terry Zwigoff's "Bad Santa" stars Billy Bob Thornton as Willie, a cartoonishly foul-mouthed con man who makes his living posing as Mr. Claus and ripping off the shopping malls that employ him.
With the help of his partner/elf (Tony Cox), Willie manages to stay one drink shy of an alcohol-induced coma, somehow maintaining consciousness enough to pull off the job year after year. This time, a latch-key kid (Brett Kelly) intent on befriending Willie threatens to soften his cold, misanthropic heart and make him re-evaluate his life.
Co-starring the late, great talents of Bernie Mac and John Ritter, this relatively new film contains one classic scene after another, but will put your ears to the test with its staggering volume of swear words. And yet, I still find it charming.
Also on my playlist is 2002's "Friday After Next," the third in a series of films that began with the original "Friday" in 1995, regarded as one of that decade's funniest comedies.
While many fans of the first movie bemoaned Chris Tucker's absence from the sequels, I found each subsequent entry to be even more hilarious than the one that came before it. "Friday After Next" begins with our main characters Craig and Dae Dae (Ice Cube and Mike Epps) getting robbed by a conspicuously skinny Santa on Christmas Eve. As the pair use th
